Simple suggestions

Post  Abnegation on Sat Dec 22, 2012 2:03 am

I don't want to get long winded with this one so real quick like

1) VOIP

I've not yet used this program but it's at least worth looking into it.

http ://www .raid call. com/v7 /in dex.html
(remove spaces)

VOIP (Voice Over IP) is stuff like Skype, Vent, Mumble, Teamspeak, etc. This one appears to be free and used by a lot of people.

Any SERIOUS WoE plans are almost destined to fail without something like this in place. Not to mention it gives a place to collect members for those of us that aren't spending their time on their guild characters (like me, since I'm sure as fuck not hunting on a champ)

2) List of members and their bloody branch contributions

Much like the guild buff donation thread, something like this should be set up to keep track of who's donating what to the bloody branch fund.

Ideally, although it'd be more work, there could also be a total section that keeps track of how many branches we've made in the history of the guild and the current count of supplies so we know what to be getting.

3) A list of members, what they play, and what they could play

Or in other words, an easy to access thread of all/most of the members and what they are available to play.

This one would have a decent amount of startup work and time associated with it but it's easier than remembering what other people play. When the time comes that you need to find a certain class to do a certain role or whatever it may be, especially if they are the harder to find roles, then you can look to the guild.

I was thinking it could just be this one thread where the first 2 or 3 posts are reserved for edits by one of the head GMs of the guild. Updates to peoples statuses could be posted and editted into the main posts as they came.

Example:

Forum Name: Abnegation
Currently Playing: Champion (Abnegation)
Preferred: Champion, Lord Knight
Willing: Paladin, Clown, Stalker

Temp:

Forum Name: (Your account here, since if you switch characters not everybody will know who is who from memory)
Currently Playing: (What you're playing in the guild, followed by the name of the character)
Preferred: (What you'd prefer playing the most if given the chance)
Willing: (What you'd be willing to play otherwise if needed)

Just throwing this out there since some members talked about not liking RaidCall

Ventrilo is the tried and true for RO.

https://www.typefrag.com/billing/default.aspx?type=Ventrilo

There is an option at the bottom for group payments. It's not that expensive to begin with, but perhaps, with time, a few members could/would be willing to be a part of paying for it.

Edit: there are tons of hosting options out there, it'd be wise to look at a bunch of them too

I use Skype for league of legends ^^;;

Only thing is... It's a free mic so you can constantly hear the "other side."
Now multiply that by 20+ people. Lol

Strictly against Skype and I'll lay down why here and now so hopefully it doesn't have to be brought up anymore:

1) Skype has no push to talk features. People with bad mics or noisy households are going to be disasters for everybody else in the call. This isn't going to work out when we need one person talking and telling us what to do.

2) Skype doesn't host the calls, one of the people in the call does. At first it might be alright for the people that really want to be in voip now, but later on if there is a much bigger portion of people WoEing or MvPing... it's not gonna work out. Nobody will be able to host that call comfortably and reliably enough.

I've used vent before.
But I guess it's a matter of cost for that one Sad

As a college student, I'm always on a budget so Vent wouldn't be convenient for me. While I might be able to make small contributions (5 dollars maybe 10) from time to time, I can't gurantee continued payment.
